After many years with no club, Cape Smokey in Ingonish, NS is back in action! The new club started in the 2021/22 season with a handful of eager kids. Last season we had 19 and now have 24 signed up for the upcoming season. 8 new coaches completed the EL training last year. As well, a group completed the level one official’s course and we have 2 new level 2 officials.
Cape Smokey was also very excited to host an end of the season training camp and fun race. We received very positive feedback on the event! Lots of fundraising is also taking place as we are starting from scratch and we need everything to host races!!
The club anticipates hosting a sanctioned race as well as travelling to several events, hosting another camp and developing our skills through the snow stars program.
As a new club we are always looking for volunteers to help out.
