Awards Criteria

Unforeseen Circumstances 

The Ski NS Board reserves the right to deal with any unforeseen circumstances not specifically provided for in the criteria. 

Member in Good Standing: 

* A member is considered in “Good Standing” with Ski Nova Scotia provided that: 

  • All dues for the current year have been paid by the stated deadline(s); 
  • All monies owing to his/her home Club and/or to Ski Nova Scotia from previous years (including for special events) have been paid by the stated deadline(s) 
  • The member has read and accepted their home Clubs Code of Conduct Policy and any amendments that may be made thereto from time to time.

Junior Athlete of the Year Nominee:

The nomination of the male and female Junior Athlete of the Year will be submitted for consideration by the Support 4 Sport Awards Committee. The nominees must be members in good standing* with Ski Nova Scotia. The nominees must be under the age of 18 as stipulated by the Support 4 Sport Awards criteria. The nomination will be made for the athlete with the highest score of World Cup Point results obtained from both Alpine and Ski Cross races prior to the cut off deadline as stipulated by Support 4 Sport (typically March 31st). Athletes who have participated in FIS events will not be considered for the Junior Athlete nomination.

Senior Athlete of the Year Nominee

The nomination of the male and female Senior Athlete of the Year will be submitted for consideration by the Support 4 Sport Awards Committee. The nominees must be members in good standing* with Alpine Ski Nova Scotia. The nominees may be any age as stipulated by the Support 4 Sport Awards criteria. The nomination will be made for the athlete with the lowest FIS Point results obtained from Alpine races prior to the cut off deadline as stipulated by Support 4 Sport (typically March 31st).

Stay in the Game EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is presented to a male and female U21 age athlete who is a member in good standing* with Alpine Ski Nova Scotia. If there are no athletes registered in the U21 category the U18 category will be used. It will be awarded to the person who has the lowest National points at the end of the season. The recipients will be named at the Alpine Ski Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting and will receive the $500 scholarship upon receipt by ASNS of registration of enrollment in a post-secondary education institution.

U12 KELL ANTOFT AWARDS

This award is presented to the top three male and female U12 age athletes who are members in good standing* with Ski Nova Scotia. It will be awarded to the athletes with the highest score of World Cup point results obtained from a max of 3 Atlantic Alpine race weekends. World Cup points will be scored in the U12 age division. A minimum of one of the weekends must be at a NS race. The award will be presented at the Alpine Ski Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting.

U14 ATHLETE AWARDS

This award is presented to the top three male and female U14 age athletes who are members in good standing* with Alpine Ski Nova Scotia. It will be awarded to the athletes with the lowest total of combined Slalom & Giant Slalom, and Super Giant Slalom National points as of April 30th each year. The award will be presented at the Alpine Ski Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting.

U16 ATHLETE AWARDS

This award is presented to the top three male and female U16 age athletes who are members in good standing* with Alpine Ski Nova Scotia. It will be awarded to the athletes with the lowest total of combined Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super Giant Slalom National Points as of April 30th each year. The award will be presented at the Alpine Ski Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting.

U18/U21 ATHLETE AWARD

This award is presented to the top three male and female U18/U21 age athletes who are members in good standing* with Alpine Ski Nova Scotia. The U18/21 age division will be scored as one division. It will be awarded to the athletes with the lowest total of combined Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super Giant Slalom National Points as of April 30th each year. The award will be presented at the Alpine Ski Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting.
